Step Inside The Training: What Happens Inside the Certified Coach Program?
What does learning to coach actually look like?
In CTA’s Certified Coach Program, the possibilities you’ve been exploring become skills you practice. You learn, coach, experience being coached, and receive feedback along the way.
Over 22 weeks, you develop your coaching ability and work on using it professionally—whether you want your own practice or plan to bring coaching into your existing work.
A consistent group. A clear weekly rhythm.
A structured sequence of learning and practice.
A small cohort with the same trainer and classmates.
60–90 minutes at a scheduled day and time.
Classes are live, interactive, and conducted by audio. The format focuses attention on listening, tone, and presence. You participate in conversations with your group, with reading, assignments, and coaching practice between classes.
Learn → Discuss → Experience
Learn: Explore the weekly curriculum, examples, and assignments before class.
Discuss: Bring questions to your trainer and classmates, connect ideas to real situations, and explore how to apply what you’re learning.
Experience: Coach, be coached, observe conversations, and receive feedback that helps you develop your skills.
Two kinds of live class
Trainer-Led Learning Classes
Explore the curriculum with your trainer and connect it to your developing coaching work.
- Ask questions about coaching skills and application.
- Work on niche, message, fees, and practice development.
- Discuss challenges, share progress, and receive guidance.
Coach-the-Coach Classes
Put the skills into practice with your classmates around real topics.
- Coach and experience being coached.
- Observe conversations and discuss what you notice.
- Receive immediate, supportive feedback.
You don’t need to perform perfectly. You develop confidence by trying the skills, receiving feedback, and practicing again.
Your learning continues between classes.
The Coach Training Accelerator provides your curriculum, with lessons covering coaching skills, professional practice, and business development. Weekly guidance helps you know what to prepare and how it connects to class.
Your virtual classroom also gives you access to resources, discussion with your group, and connections for arranging practice coaching.
You begin coaching during training.
As you develop your skills, you put them to work with real people. Alongside coaching practice, you work on:
- Your coaching focus and the clients you want to serve.
- Your message, visibility, and approach to attracting clients.
- Fees, agreements, client materials, and basic practice systems.
Students can begin enrolling fee-based coaching clients while still in training.
Look deeper: What does the curriculum cover?
The Coach Training Accelerator brings together five curriculum areas:
- Coaching From Center: authenticity, the coach-client relationship, vision, and the foundation of your practice.
- Impeccable Business Sense: professional systems, fees, boundaries, and business foundations.
- Effective Coaching Tools: listening, questions, action, support, and accountability.
- Becoming a Client Magnet: niche, messaging, visibility, credibility, and client attraction.
- Masterful Sessions: bringing the coaching model together in focused, client-centered conversations.
Supporting resources include coaching dialogues, forms, templates, worksheets, audio, and assignments. You use them as your learning progresses; you don’t need to absorb everything at once.
Look deeper: What happens after graduation?
After completing the program’s certification requirements, you earn the CTA Certified Coach designation (CTACC).
Opportunities for continued development include CTA’s Life Coach Directory, graduate community, Graduate School of Coaching, and Co-Creative Forum.
